About Me
Living in Cornwall all my life has inspired me to capture and share its beauty on camera. Therefore my underlying photography passion is landscape photography. In Cornwall I am blessed with such a beautiful coastline and love to show it off! From stormy seas to bright summer days, Cornwall’s coastline can be dramatic or tranquil; it is ever changing and always tells a different story.
I have developed my photography skills into taking portraits. Marrying the backdrop of Cornwall in my portrait photography really excites me. Family portraits, bathed in golden light, enjoying a beautiful location, a perfect recipe for Steve Sykes Photography!
I am also a big techy geek! I have loved the technical side of performing arts ever since I was a child. I studied Performing Arts at A-Level and I’ve continued to work with amateur dramatic groups, dance companies and churches being involved with the designing and running of stage lighting, the setting up and running of sound systems or filming and photographing.
Living by sea, however, has rubbed off on me, when I’m not doing techy stuff and weather is nice; I will be on the water! I enjoy sailing, gig rowing, wakeboarding, surfing, paddleboarding, the list goes on. Having a drone has allowed me to film some of my favourite water sports and I now use it commercially too.
As you can see from my hobbies and experiences; I have a wide range of skills and like to keep my work varied. I am a perfectionist and will always work to my best ability to achieve a professional, high quality service.
